Camp signs are among the most unique and artistic signage I make.  Materials  include wood, slate shingles, paddles, tree slices, birch bark, etc… use your imagination, my imagination, or both. Hand carved, hand painted HDU material.
HDU does not warp, split or rot like wood can. If a sign will be exposed to “a lot” of weather, it’ll get more years with HDU. Because I’m an artist, I can faux-paint the woodgrain with modern acrylic paint to look like pine, teak, birch bark, etc.  I’m equally comfortable working with real wood, HDU and other materials and am glad to tell you about the qualities of all of them.  I also restore old signs.
